March 28: Manitoba Call for Proposals for Federal Provincial Cost Shared Agreements for research, material design and public awareness projects. April 19-26: Manitoba Book Week. LPM is sponsoring the kick-off event to raise awareness of family literacy and reading in the home, by featuring a Manitoba author on the CBC Weekend Morning show with host Ron Robinson. April 20 &27: Healthy Parenting for the 90’s Mondays (2 evenings) Do you or your learners ever wish you had a more cooperative child? Or a more self-confident child? Here is an opportunity for parents of children age 2 – 12 to discover how to build your child’ self esteem and cooperation so important for success in the real world. April 21: How to Help Children Make and Maintain Friends. We all want children to have friends and to be friendly. Some children have no idea what to do, what to say or how to go about being or attracting a friend. Come to this practical workshop to learn how to help your child develop the skills and the confidence to reach out and take a risk. May 21/22 or May 25/26: Libraries in Winnipeg will host these day-and-a-half sessions of family literacy training in the Parent Child Mother Goose program model, with founder Celia Lottridge of Toronto. Focusing on the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs and stories with parents and their young children and babies, this model can be adapted to multicultural and aboriginal family literacy programs. $50.00 registration due April 24. May 21: LPM benefits from net proceeds of the Club Regent Bingo Night. We need 10 volunteers for this evening of fun and laughter. Free drink of your choice supplied to all volunteers after the shift. 6-9 p.m. Call LeRae Rigney to sign up at 947-5757.

May 25 - 28: Introduction to Volunteer Management (IVM) this 3 ½ day course is designed for anyone responsible for volunteer management.
