April 23-29, 2000. Manitoba Book Week. This week long celebration will include daily book launches, a young writers’ contest, author readings and publisher-discounted books. Manitoba Book Publishers are pleased to donate 5% of the sales of the Manitoba Book Week display to the Literacy Partners of Manitoba! April 26, 2000. The 2000 Learners’ Conference, “Reach For Your Dreams.” 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Salvation Army Facilities, 324 Logan Avenue, Winnipeg. Joint project of the Transcona Literacy Centre and The Salvation Army. Lunch will be provided. Topics will include Career & Educational opportunities, as well as a variety of speakers requested by learners at last year’s conference, e.g., “How to Handle Stress”, “Improving Self-Esteem”, etc. Please call Karen at 224-9099.

June 4, 2000. WVRA Fundraiser. DeLuca’s Restaurant, 950 Portage Avenue. All-you-can-eat pasta and salad. Tickets, $10.00 per person. Three sittings at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., or 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Invite your family, friends and students to join in the fun and support of a worthy cause.
