A learner and tutorThe LEARN Line links adult learners and potential volunteers to literacy and adult learning programs in Manitoba.

LEARN Line Facts for 2007/2008:

  • The LEARN Line handled 463 calls.
  • Sixty-six percent of the calls were made by the learners (52%) and their family or friends (14%).
  • Sixty percent of the callers were female.
  • Sixty percent of the calls were by or for learners aged 18 – 40.
  • Fifty-five percent of the learners had not completed high school (32% had partial high school and 23% had less than grade nine). 
  • Forty-one percent of the learners had jobs (28% full time - 13% part time).
  • Seventeen percent had a regular high school diploma.  From this group, 63% were seeking help with reading and writing skills and 37% were seeking additional or improved high school credits.
