News from OLES continued...

The projects can be 2 or 3 years in length. The outcomes of the projects are to be:
1) the development of tools and models and/or
2) the adaptation, promotion and distribution of the tools.

The provincial/territorial staff with responsibility for literacy will be providing feedback to the OLES staff regarding the submissions. OLES indicated that an executive summary of the project will be provided to provincial staff, not the complete proposal.

We were assured that the application has been changed and that it will be a simpler format and easier to complete than the application that was used last fall.

While attending the Movement for Canadian Literacy* meetings in Ottawa, coaltion executive directors met with staff of OLES and discussed challenges based on the feedback we received from our members and network. Last spring as a group we were able to provide concerns about the 2007 call for proposals and we proposed solutions.

Please let us know if you're submitting an application, or if we can be of assistance. When you've completed your application, please let us know how you found the process.

*Note: The Movement for Canadian Literacy is the national literacy coalition. Literacy Partners of Manitoba is a member. I sit on the Board of Directors and have been a member of the Executive Committee for two years. I am the Secretary.
