Double your donation to literacy by taking advantage of matching funds!

The National Literacy Secretariat (NLS) has been generously matching all donations to The Winnipeg Foundation Literacy for Life Fund, dollar for dollar. This support will end in September 2006. LPM welcomes a new northern rep, Leona Massan

Leona MassanLeona Massan has lived in Thompson for the past 30 years after spending time in The Pas, Gillam, Cormorant, Winnipeg and Brandon.

LPM seeks promotional copies of literacy texts

We are looking for publishers of literacy materials who will provide LPM with promotional copies of their publications. This would give LPM members a chance to review materials before buying them. Literacy Practitioners gather at LiteracyWorks to discuss research in practice

A small group of participants gathered to stretch their thinking about research in practice at the LiteracyWorks office on Wednesday, May 24. Participants were challenged to expand their notion of research to envision research in a broader sense.  Brainstorming brought out new ideas about which aspects of volunteer tutoring could be considered research. Canadian Library Association seeks information about library Iiteracy programs

On June 14th, 2006, CLA’s Action for Literacy Interest Group will be hosting "A National Summit on Libraries and Literacy: Moving Forward" in conjunction with the annual CLA conference in Ottawa.  To prepare for the Summit, a short survey has been created to find out about library/literacy initiatives currently happening across Canada.
