Leona Massan.

Leona Massan has lived in Thompson for the past 30 years after spending time in The Pas, Gillam, Cormorant, Winnipeg and Brandon.

She is a band member of Shamattawa First Nation and has two sons and one daughter aged 15, 22 and 21 respectively. She is also a proud grandmother.

Leona attained a degree in Social Work from the University of Manitoba in 2003, and has worked tirelessly to help her people.

Leona has done much for the Aboriginal community. One of her strongest attributes is her relentless passion for traditional values. She has spearheaded many efforts to address the sociological and cultural issues that face both her family in particular and Aboriginal people in general.

Leona is an avid outdoors person and enjoys fishing and camping as well as collecting many rocks and feathers which she readily transforms into very impressive traditional native craftwork.

We welcome Leona as LPM's northern representative.
