Write On Submissions.

I would like to publish learner writing from every region of the province in the next edition of Write On. I hope that the centre section of pages will become learner pages … perhaps on different colored paper and perhaps with a learner designed heading. A copy of the published newsletter will be sent to every learner who submits work.

It would be helpful to other practitioners if you, the instructor, could submit a few lines to tell us how the writing came about - see the winter edition of Write On, available on-line, for samples of this.

I plan to feature Family Literacy Programs this month. I have already interviewed a woman who has had four of her five children go through the Family Literacy Program at Open Doors. The mom is almost ready to graduate from literacy to upgrading and appreciates learning along with her children. This should be an inspirational story for other learners just starting in literacy.

I hope every Family Literacy Program in Manitoba will submit an article about their program, including digital pictures if possible. No you are not all doing the same thing. I’ve discovered, from those programs I visited, or talked with their instructor about, all have very unique features. Write On should be a place where practitioners can share their ideas.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 15th. I will be away on a holiday from March 6 th to March 16 th. I hope my email and fax box is crammed with submissions when I return.

I’ve prepared a RELEASE FORM which needs to be faxed to me at (204) 956-9315 – one for each submission. Our new privacy law is very good and very strict.

Jan
