The gift of literacy has a long-lasting, far-reaching impact on a person’s life. Being able to read and write and do math can mean the difference between health and illness, employment and unemployment, participating in social activities or being isolated.  When people acquire the tools to read and write, they begin to understand the impact literacy has on their lives. They become more effective communicators, their self esteem improves, they set goals, and they teach skills to their children. They benefit, their families benefit and, ultimately, we all benefit.

You can contribute to the work being done to further literacy in Manitoba. If, like Literacy Partners of Manitoba, you believe literacy is a human right, that literacy is everyone’s business, and that all Manitobans have a part to play, we invite you to donate to our work.  The money you donate will help Literacy Partners of Manitoba support learners and practitioners in Manitoba and every donation over $15 receives a tax receipt.

Here are some ways to support literacy in Manitoba :

  • Make a donation to Literacy Partners of Manitoba. Click here for a donation form or call 947-5757 with your Visa or Mastercard.

  • Give through the United Way Winnipeg “donor directed giving” to Literacy Partners of Manitoba.  Donations made through the United Way have a $12 administration fee taken off them.  If you donate $30, we receive $18; if you donate $100, we receive $88.

  • Support the Literacy for Life Endowment Fund. This joint initiative involves Literacy Partners of Manitoba, Winnipeg Public Library, and The Winnipeg Foundation, with a goal of strengthening our community through increased family literacy opportunities. The fund received matching support from the former National Literacy Secretariat (NLS), Human Resources Development Canada.
