About Us
|
Forty-two percent (42%) of Canadians, aged 16–65, do not have
the minimum literacy skills for coping with everyday life and work.
More than 290,000 Manitobans have low literacy skills
and struggle with daily tasks.
LITERACY PARTNERS OF MANITOBA helps open the doors to life-long learning and a society where we can all participate fully. We strive for a society in which everyone has the literacy and essential skills to deal with the challenges of daily life at home, work, and their larger community.
Our Mission
Literacy Partners of Manitoba is committed to supporting learners and practitioners in their efforts to improve Literacy and Essential Skills in Manitoba, and to raise the awareness of the importance of Literacy and Essential Skills with stakeholders and partners.

What You Can Do…
Literacy Partners of Manitoba believes that literacy is a human right and all Manitobans have a role to play. Help make a positive change in the literacy landscape of our province by becoming a member or joining our Board of Directors.
Literacy Partners of Manitoba (LPM) is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is supported by a community-based membership, individual and corporate donors, the Government of Canada Office of Literacy and Essential Skills, and the Province of Manitoba Adult Learning and Literacy Branch, Manitoba Advanced Education and Literacy. We were founded in 1987 as the “Literacy Workers’ Alliance of Manitoba”, then incorporated as “Literacy Partners of Manitoba” in 1996.
